Alexander specializes in advising on civil, commercial and arbitration disputes, resolving disputes related to insolvency and bankruptcy, as well as in family and estate law, real estate regulations, construction and land law, labor law, corporate law and M&A.

He is included in the list of arbitrators for the Arbitration Center at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs as well as for the Russian Arbitration Center at the Russian Institute of Modern Arbitration.

Alexander has cooperated with the Agency of Strategic Initiatives in an expert capacity on numerous occasions to develop proposals on improving existing legislation, including regulations concerning anti-Covid measures.

Experience

• representing the interests of COMMERZBANK AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT in a dispute with Reliance Retail Ventures Limited whose consequent complex civil and criminal procedures resulted in preventing EUR 200m in potential damages to the client’s interests
• representing the interests of Sberbank in a dispute with the largest crushed stone producer Pavlovskgranit (Voronezh region) over recovery of debt under a loan agreement and foreclosure of pledge for over RUB 6bn (2012)
• providing legal support for Haval’s (China) activities related to the construction of its manufacturing facilities in the Tulskaya region, opening its car dealership network, and legally protecting the company in various disputes
• representing the interests of MOBIS Parts CIS (Hyundai Mobis Korea) in disputes on the prohibition of parallel imports of auto parts to Russia
• providing complex legal assistance to a South Korean company Samsung C&T in implementing a large-scale construction project of the offices of Gazprom in the Lakhta-Center in St Petersburg
• representing the interests of an heir in a dispute over the recognition of ownership of cultural property (a collection of paintings) and the return of said cultural property to the Government of the Russian Federation. This dispute is the only dispute ever initiated under the Law of the Russian Federation “On cultural property moved to the USSR as a result of the Second World War and located on the territory of the Russian Federation”
